Fire-rated sealing is passive fire protection. Where a wall or floor is required to resist fire, any gap, control joint or service that passes through it has to be sealed in a way that suits the building’s fire-resistance requirements. That is different from standard caulking, which seals against water, air and movement but carries no fire performance.
The performance comes from the whole system: the substrate, the barrier construction, what passes through it, and the fire-rated product selected to suit that combination. The correct system has to match the wall or floor, the service or joint, and the fire-resistance level required by the building.
We install fire-rated sealant systems according to the product and project specifications, and we coordinate with the builder, specifier, fire consultant or certifier so the right system is used where it is required.
